A lazy version of Sugaree. A little slower than usual. But very cool. Worth further study.
There’s some new stuff in China Cat Sunflower
A really solid version of The Stranger. Thanks Pigpen!
“Mississippi River. So deep and wide. I got a woman. On the other side”. This line, or some variation, is in many old blues tunes and shows up here in Sitting On Top of The World, maybe the Dead do it in every version. Not sure.
Rockin Pneumonia is a first!
I’m really starting to like Morning Dew.
Not Fade Away is tonight’s “double song”. The rhythm is clearly inspired by Bo Diddley. So why not put a tribute to him in the middle?
They sing the Mississippi river part on the studio version, I thought that was part of the song. Maybe not.
The line might be on every version that they do. I just don’t remember it from Dead songs, but the line shows up in a lot of old blues tunes.
